I've just begun G.K. Chesterton's murder mystery The Man Who Was Thursday.
So far it is really silly, poking fun at the pretensions of the "artists" living in an Art's District in London about 100 years ago. It so resembles what happens in DTLA that I am chuckling aloud while reading.

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cd79pzSG0ak/VAEQwYoDpFI/AAAAAAAAPhI/zcG3NQQ0Xdk/s1600/TheyCallMeCarpenter.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cd79pzSG0ak/VAEQwYoDpFI/AAAAAAAAPhI/zcG3NQQ0Xdk/s320/TheyCallMeCarpenter.jpg" /></a></div>
It parodies the Hollywood film culture and is very visual. It could easily be a movie. Think Brazil.
It's available in the Public Domain.

Recognizing that we need to share our genetic heritage to build a stable future they have started with mostly edible plants like Kale, Carrots, Barley, Spelt etc.
These seeds will be freely shared and can't be patented. They are available to anyone and everyone. The seed bank will grow and all the growers will help, share and benefit along the way.

I've just started A book club where all books are available for free in the Open Domain. We read and comment on the book as we're reading it. Everybody shares and you are encouraged to invite your friends to join.
<br />
The first book is Jack London's White Fang. I don't care what they say, this book is amazing. I'm about 1/3 of the way through and it is incredible. Here is a link to where you can download it <a href="http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/910" target=_blank">White Fang on Gutenberg</a> but it is widely available from other sources like Amazon and Google Books and Good Reads. You can read it on your computer, cell phone, Nook, Kindle etx. You can even print it out.
<br />
Open to all on Facebook at <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/618941704849340/" target="_blank">The Book Club of the Open Domain</a>Dana Rosshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09321257900348725332noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2620866574718282901.post-45640440067179513372012-08-18T13:48:00.003-07:002014-04-15T23:55:48.179-07:00Author Arthur Schnitzler<div>

He
is a well-know Viennese writer from the late 19th century. His writing
is still fresh and alive. His books have been adapted into a lot of
movies, most recently being Eyes Wide Shut.</div>

<div>
His work is available in the public domain so you can download this book now.</div>
